For voiceover and narration work, the Client should provide a final, approved script before the Project is confirmed.

Brands

Technical language

Medical or scientific terminology

13. Payments and deposits
The payment terms for each Project will be agreed in writing.
Payment may be made by:
-
Bank transfer
-
Stripe
-
PayPal
-
Direct invoice
-
Another agreed payment method
Deposits are required before work begins.
Deposit requirements are as follows:
Project Value Deposit Required
Up to £100 100% upfront
£101 to £500 50% upfront
£501 to £1,000 30% upfront
£1,001+ 25% upfront
For large projects, milestone payments may be agreed in writing.
For first-time bookings, Sound & Script Studio reserves the right to request full payment upfront.
Unless agreed otherwise in writing, final files may be withheld until full payment has been received.
14. Currencies
Payments may be accepted in GBP, USD or EUR, as agreed at the quotation stage.
Any currency conversion fees, transfer fees or payment platform fees charged to the Client are the Client’s responsibility unless agreed otherwise.
15. Late payment
Unless agreed otherwise in writing, final files may be delivered before full payment is received. Where this applies, full payment is due within 7 days of delivery of the final files or invoice, whichever is later.
If payment has not been received within 7 days, Sound & Script Studio will issue a payment reminder.
If payment has still not been received within 14 days of delivery of the final files or invoice, whichever is later, Sound & Script Studio may take further action to recover the unpaid amount. This may include legal action, debt recovery, withdrawal or suspension of usage rights, and the recovery of any applicable interest, administrative fees, legal fees, debt recovery costs or other reasonable costs caused by late payment.
Usage rights do not fully transfer or commence until full payment has been received, unless agreed otherwise in writing.
For business-to-business transactions, statutory interest and compensation may apply under UK late payment legislation.
The Client remains responsible for paying the full outstanding amount, together with any applicable interest, administrative costs, recovery costs, legal costs or other reasonable costs arising from late payment.
16. Non-refundable deposits
Deposits are non-refundable once a Project has been booked.
The deposit secures Project time and covers administration, planning, scheduling, communication, preparation and the commitment of studio resources.
This does not affect any legal rights that cannot be excluded by law.
17. Refunds and cancellation
Because many Sound & Script Studio services are bespoke, custom-made, time-based or digital creative services, refunds are not offered once work has been booked, started, delivered or made available, except where required by law.
If the Client cancels a Project after booking, the deposit remains non-refundable.
If the Client cancels after additional work has been completed beyond the value of the deposit, the Client may be invoiced for the work completed up to the cancellation date.
If the cancellation fee exceeds prior payments, the remaining balance must be paid.
If Sound & Script Studio is unable to complete a Project due to circumstances within its control, a fair resolution will be discussed. This may include rescheduling, partial refund, alternative delivery, or another reasonable solution depending on the circumstances.
Nothing in these Terms removes statutory rights that cannot legally be excluded.
18. Consumer cancellation rights
If the Client is buying as a consumer, they may have cancellation rights under UK distance selling rules.
By paying a deposit, approving the brief, and asking Sound & Script Studio to begin work, the Client agrees that work may start before the end of any cancellation period.
Where custom digital work, recording, performance, editing, sound design, composition or other bespoke creative work has begun, been delivered, or been made available with the Client’s agreement, cancellation or refund rights may be limited.
This does not affect statutory rights where services are not provided with reasonable care and skill.
19. Delivery
Delivery methods may include:
-
WeTransfer
-
Email
-
Download link
-
Cloud storage link
-
File transfer service
-
Another agreed delivery method
Unless agreed otherwise, voiceover files are delivered as 24-bit/48kHz WAV files.
Unless agreed otherwise, sound design files are delivered in WAV and MP3 format.
Alternative file formats can be provided if requested at the booking stage.
Additional formats, stems, loops, alternate mixes, separated assets, session files, file naming conventions or technical exports may incur additional fees.
The Client is responsible for downloading and safely storing delivered files.
20. File splitting
For voiceover projects, up to 5 separate files are included as part of the Basic Studio Fee unless agreed otherwise.
If more than 5 files are required, an additional fee may apply due to the extra time and file management involved.
For sound design, game audio, theatre, immersive or trailer projects, the number of deliverables, stems, loops or assets should be agreed before work begins. Additional assets or file versions may incur additional fees.
21. Revisions and pickups
Revision requests must be made within 7 days of receiving the relevant draft or final files unless agreed otherwise.
The revision policy depends on the type of Project.
Voiceover revisions
If Sound & Script Studio makes a clear recording error, technical error or delivery error, this will be corrected at no additional cost.
Minor script changes may be recorded without additional charge at Sound & Script Studio’s discretion, provided they are limited in scope and do not significantly affect the recording time, editing time, delivery schedule, performance direction or overall project structure.
For short-form voiceover projects, minor script changes may include small wording changes, line swaps or corrections that can be completed quickly within the original project scope.
For long-form projects, including audiobooks, e-learning modules, courses, narration series or chapter-based work, script changes are assessed by time and workload rather than percentage. Any changes that require substantial re-recording, repeated pickups, chapter-wide edits, restructuring, new files, new delivery passes or significant additional editing may incur an additional fee.
If a full re-recording is required due to Client changes, it will be billed at the original Basic Studio Fee, or another amount agreed in writing.
Sound design revisions
Unless stated otherwise in the quote, two rounds of revisions are included for sound design projects.
A reasonable sound design revision means an adjustment to the agreed work based on the original approved brief.
Examples of reasonable sound design revisions include:
-
Adjusting volume balance
-
Changing the timing of a sound effect
-
Swapping or refining individual sound effects
-
Minor changes to ambience, texture, intensity or pacing
-
Small edits to better match picture, gameplay or movement
-
Minor mix changes
-
Minor export or format changes
A sound design revision does not include a major change in creative direction, a new concept, a new scene, a new version of the Project, a replacement brief, or changes caused by new materials supplied after work has begun.
Examples of work outside included sound design revisions include:
-
Rebuilding the sound design from scratch
-
Changing the style after the original brief has been approved
-
Adding new scenes, levels, trailers, cuts or deliverables
-
Reworking audio because the video edit has changed significantly
-
Creating new assets not included in the original quote
-
Producing additional formats, stems or versions not originally agreed
Acting, music and performance revisions
Revisions, retakes or additional recordings for acting, music or performance projects will depend on the nature of the Project and will be agreed in writing.
Additional takes, new direction, changed material, new lyrics, new music, altered creative approach or revised performance requirements may incur additional fees.
